Last night, Redfin chief executive officer Glenn Kelman was named CEO of the Year at Seattle Business magazine’s Executive Excellence Awards gala. Now in its fifth year, the Executive Excellence Awards program recognizes executives who best demonstrate the ability to inspire, lead and serve as role models for other business leaders.
When accepting the award, Kelman credited the hard work of Redfin’s employees. “The partnership between agents and engineers, between all the people at the company, in this mission to do something that we all really believe in, is why I am still here; it is why we will be here five years from now, and 10 years from now; it is why I am so proud to be the CEO of Redfin,” said Kelman.
The February issue of Seattle Business magazine features an interview with Glenn, and highlights the company’s unique business model, which helped it survive the market crash of 2008. As the article states, “The company’s agents are employees, not contractors, another industry-bucking choice Kelman ascribes to his being ‘a Berkeley ex-hippie.’ As this model provides agents greater stability, it also helps Redfin build brand identity through uniform service.”
On behalf of all employees at Redfin, we’d like to congratulate Glenn, and thank him for his relentless dedication to redefining real estate in the customer’s favor!
