Hillary was fantastic. She was thorough and mind-blowingly brilliant at explaining all our options. She knew what made an offer strong, and what could potentially jeopardize our bid. She was savvy at lining up the steps required to close on a very speedy deal (18 days from offer to closing). She was politely persistent with us with all the required documents and steps required of us – definitely kept us on track and kept us from drowning through the process. She was responsive to all our questions and reassuring through any potential hiccups in the process. She didn’t bat a lash at submitting an offer with an aggressive timeline, and I attribute that to incredible financial knowledge and unparalleled competence and attentiveness.

Unfortunately First Savings Mortgage did not measure up to the expected standards. Despite the fact that I was working with lovely individuals Hillary and Carmin (her assistant), the amount of back and forth emails, delays and confusions continued to the last day, while they could have been and should have been settled much earlier in the process. I was told at the beginning that 'the numbers look good' and was promised that the loan would be closed in 'two weeks' and 'there would be no last minute surprises'. Regrettably despite all the efforts by Hillary and Carmin they were not able to deliver on these promises. For example I was told that I was 'short or reserve' only two business days before closing, while all financial data was provided several weeks earlier.

She offered competitive rates and flexible options. Her team also worked well to communicate what documents would be needed before closing, and promptly answered our questions. Also, we appreciated the secure document upload portal, which is surprisingly rare among lenders, and is much better than having to send sensitive documents via methods that are either not secure (email) or inconvenient (fax).
