Liberty Bank's origin dates back to 1898 when members of a neighborhood church on Chicago’s north side came together to form a mutual savings institution committed to "neighbors helping neighbors." The community commitment is more than an advertising slogan; it’s the legal framework behind its mutual charter. Unlike most financial institutions, the bank has no stockholders.That means faceless corporate types aren’t dictating how we operate, nor are we required by Wall Street to generate mass profits.

Liberty Bank offers fantastic rates and we really like that they act as the servicer on the loans they lend (at least for the time being). Our loan consultant was great. She gave us some tips and options to make sure we were getting the best rate we could. We were disappointed with the loan processor, though. She has clearly forgotten that buyers are relying on her for all information related to closing, including important deadlines. We almost had to delay closing because she failed to inform us of some details.

Liberty's rates were very competitive, which is the reason we first approached them. After more research we found a few other places that could match their rates, but we found all the others much harder to work with. Liberty was fast to respond to us, highly available via both email and phone, and made the daunting task of filling out a ton of paperwork much more manageable by providing us exactly what we asked for: a simple todo list, stating what item needed to be signed or provided and where we should send it. I would go with them again for another loan if I ever need it.

This was my second home purchase through Liberty Bank and Mary and this experience was just as good as the first. The last purchase was about 6 years ago and since then they have added a bunch of electronic dashboards and esigning capabilities that made the whole loan process even easier. Mary was always available for questions and even showed up during the closing to make sure I was satisfied. If I ever purchase a house again, I would go through Liberty and Mary in a heartbeat.
