I'm not quite sure how to rate Title companies, but First American kept in constant contact during the transaction of my home. I appreciate when communication remains key in matters such as this. From the opening of escrow to the closing, I was always informed. Thank you First American!

I paid HOA dues for the month of September, 2019 and was told that the amount would not be deducted from sale costs. When I received the check and had a chance to review the paperwork detailing deductions that came with check, the HOA dues for September 2019 were deducted from the sale amount. I had deposited the check before I had a chance to review the final paperwork. Shame on me.

First American Title didn't communicate with us very much through this whole process (unless we were in their office or giving them money). This created a lot of communication problems for us, and confusion about the process. Our escrow officer was not helpful, didn't return my calls, and didn't actually communicate with me through their online portal either. I had a lot of questions, and because I didn't get them answered, there were misunderstandings on how much money we needed to transfer to close. This then delayed our closing date, and it created a lot of tension. The online portal was very unhelpful and clunky. there was no explanation of how it worked, or what we needed to do for various steps. It was a fairly unclear and, thereby, frustrating part of this process.

Diane was very efficient and resolved conflicts as they come. This trait is important as the closing process is time sensitive. Diane came through and we were able to close on time.

All good and efficient. But more communication on process and progress would have been helpful.
