First and foremost, we are very sorry to hear that this experience was less than an “A” grade. It is never our intent for sellers or anyone we are servicing for that matter to go out of their way. In fact, we pride ourselves on quite the opposite. We empathize the natural stresses of buying and selling a home. Therefore, we make every attempt to yield a smooth and seamless settlement experience. There are circumstances requiring the seller’s involvement when obtaining non-public financial information on their behalf. Many financial institutions require written authorization from the seller for a third party to procure their payoff demand statement. Thereby necessitating the seller’s involvement. Excluding the consent form request, both first and second payoff statements were requested and received as the result of direct communication between our agency and their lender weeks prior to settlement.
