Southeast Gastonia, located between Downtown Gastonia and Crowders Mountain State Park, is a residential and commuter-friendly Gastonia neighborhood with tree-lined streets and a patchwork of mid-century ranches and newer infill. The neighborhood’s energy concentrates around the E Franklin Blvd (US-74) and S New Hope Rd corridor, where auto shops, taquerias, and small storefronts set a practical, on-the-go rhythm. Nearby, the Gastonia Farmers Market acts as a weekly ritual for local produce and prepared foods. The Schiele Museum of Natural History & Planetarium adds a cultural counterpoint with exhibits and sky shows. Rankin Lake Park frames the area with trails and water views, while Catawba Creek threads green pockets through the landscape.

Higher densities than those normally allowed and a variety of different residential types may be accommodated in all zones through planned residential developments (PRD's), infill residential developments, and traditional neighborhood developments (TND's) and/or through the satisfaction of certain of certain performance design and construction criteria.
