We especially liked his data-driven approach. Several times while selling our house he did a neighborhood analysis to let us know what was happening within a certain radius of our house, what the demand/supply looked like, etc. We are recommending John to our friends/family, and we consider ourselves tough people to please. :)

John Malandrino was right about every aspect all the way through from staging our home to selling our home. Had we listened to his advise on where to set the initial price on the home, we probably would have sold the house sooner!
John was always in touch with us whether we were in town or out. John was quick to respond to telephone calls, texts and e-mails. Since we relocated 1,100 miles away, he took care of ensuring the home was always ready to be shown. John went above and beyond the call when it came to anything that came up unexpectantly. I cannot imagine a more trustworthy, harder working individual than John Malandrino.

We definitely like John. He is very experienced and composed. He also is careful with his communications, giving very few details to the buyer's agent about seller's motivation. He didn't even say that we had moved across the country to avoid lowball offers. We were moving before the house would be on the market and we wanted someone very capable to handle all the details in our absence. John has a team of assistants and even performed a couple physical tasks himself. He also gave good guidance on a couple painting/repair tasks that came up. I can't speak for all Redfin agents, but nobody would ever regret hiring John. Excellent.. and I'm an agent-hater ;). John was truly was more interested in helping me than in protecting the whole real estate agent-based economic system. Redfin compensates him based on how good a job he does for me, not on how fast he closes a deal.

First of all, Redfin rocks whether you are a buyer or a seller. Wasn't completely "sold" that Redfin would be the best way to list our house, but the experience was absolutely great -- John Malandrino helped us with getting our townhouse ready and determining the best list price in an odd market with low inventory but also low prices, just beginning to rebound. We went "live" with the listing on a Thursday night and had four (4) offers come in by late Saturday!! Buyers' agents were asked for best and final offers, and we were under contract by Sunday afternoon, with a deal for more than our list price! We were initially impressed, John presented very competently and gave us his recommendation for pricing and improvements. We took ALL his recommendations and trusted his advise. 45 days later when we returned back to the house, still unsold (although priced bellow what was recommended and reduced several times) we found the house in disrepair! John had never even been back to the home in months! We found a lamp shattered, broken glass all over the master (he said it he had cleaned it up as it broke somehow during a showing) and the master unable to have any lights turned on! We had bought our house with Redfin and did not think twice about selling with them but have been so disappointed with zero service we will not be using them with our next home nor recommend to anyone. Anytime we have had the opportunity to recommend John we most certainly do, in fact we go out of our way to do so. Our experience with John both buying and selling a home is the type you hope your dearest friends and family receive. He always made time and was very patient with us even after touring 30+ homes. In fact on our last tour and the home we purchased John stayed in our car for 45 minutes keeping our 5 and 2 year old happy while holding our 3 month old! John always had our best interest in mind, his industry and market knowledge helped us navigate the complex processes of buying new construction and selling our home in a challenging market. On the purchase of the Glen Ellyn property, John was professional and helpful, finding a home we loved in a great neighborhood, fulfilling all of our requirements.
